Franklin, TN, January 2021 – Last month, Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds announced the 46 awardees of the Coronavirus Relief Fund Earn and Learn Grant.  These grant recipients will create job training opportunities for Iowans impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.  Hamilton-Ryker’s workforce division TalentGro, along with senior living communities Cottage Grove Place and Green Hills submitted an application to support the Earn & Learn Grant initiative; and was one of the approved programs to launch in 2021. Both communities are managed by Life Care Services, An LCS Company. These partners will recruit interested Iowans to develop their career paths in healthcare or culinary tracks.  The targeted participants will be from within key regions of Iowa, whose jobs have been affected or eliminated due to the pandemic.

The two senior living communities participate in an employer-driven Registered Apprenticeship program designed according to the National Apprenticeship Act. Each program consists of on-the-job training, and curriculum for related technical instruction (RTI). TalentGro, as the program sponsor and intermediary, will provide administration support to these programs and ensure the sustainability of program activities.

Providing a career ladder in health care and culinary services will enable many people to rejoin the workforce after layoffs from COVID-19,” said VP and Director of Human Resources for LCS, Donna Boetger. “For many people, obtaining an education is a way out of poverty. Participation in a Registered Apprenticeship Program will provide for a full-time income, education, and a pathway toward the future.”

Life Care Services manages 140 communities nationwide. Cottage Grove Place is a continuing care retirement community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The community has approximately 70 residents in the health care center who are cared for by Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other health care and support providers. Green Hills is a 55+ Life Plan Community in Ames, Iowa, that offers residents quality of care, comfort, and community. They offer a continuum of care with options for independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and home health.

TalentGro is the workforce development division of Hamilton-Ryker. Hamilton-Ryker, a multi-state $ 100M company, is a total workforce development solution leader for nearly 50 years with expertise in recruiting, developing and placing skilled workers.
